The Falls

The little creek on its way to plunging down
My suburban workplace lies close to a major shopping center, some sprawling industrial complexes and a large residential area. But even nature has managed to hang on to some stretches.
A mere ten minute walk at a lunchhour can take me to an enticing place. The last hundred meters lead down a steep incline via a wooden stair, the type so familiar from recreation areas and nature reserves. I have entered a little  canyon with a rivulet, unimpressing in the amount of water it forwards. Although that is subject to occasional modification. The flow can swell to many times the normal amount after heavy downpours or prolonged wet periods. Then the cataracts and falls of this diminuative creek can be visually delightful. It was after a medium downpour the previous day that I ventured into the rough terrain around the Storås Fall. I really had to watch my step on the drenched clay soil, not only slippery as soap but also inclined to slide away in larger chunks, taking you for a ride.  The mossy fallen branches and the polished rocks hidden under dense vegetation didn't make proceedings easier...
