Swedish Midsummer 2015

Swedish Midsummer celebrations have a long tradition. Many facets and details of its history are somewhat hazy and are in constant dispute. You find some interesting aspects in this article: Midsummer In Sweden.

Midsummer in my region on the Swedish West Coast inevitably leads to a large scale migration of city folks into small coastal villages. The festivities there can be nice and family oriented, but can at times turn a bit raunchy due to generous intake of intoxicating fluids.
The particular gathering that I always partake in is right in town and attracts many immigrants, making for for an inspiring "Global Village" atmosphere. In all the years I never encountered heavy drinking or any kind of disturbance at all. Truly a great place to be on the year's longest day!
