True Colors

In spring 2008 the Style and Design teaching team in my school prepared a project for their students with “Nature” as theme. Part of this project was a section where the students had to design a makeup for themselves in accordance to the general theme. They also had to choose fitting clothes. Once makeup and outfit were completed the students were to go out in small groups to be photographed in a natural environment. The style-teachers had earlier asked me if my Photography students would like to be the photographers for the task on hand. Unfortunately the timing was a bit wrong and fell outside our course. Nevertheless, I managed to assemble a group of students who were able to take part. This small group was strengthened by a young man – a talented photographer – who helped us before with similar projects. We had our own briefing where we went through the important aspects of this project and discussed the possible locations. The choice wasn’t difficult since our school lies just a few hundred meters up from a beautiful valley along a small creek. This nature-conservation area has often been the theme or the background for photography work before.
The result of the photo-session surprised the style-students, their teachers and also us - the photographers.

One more image-show was made, this time with a stronger focus on the natural environment and the lush late-spring season. This is a time revered in Sweden, with its onslaught of green and and long hours of daylight.
